Group Works Toward Aligned Assessment Options for Career and Technical Education

The Kentucky Workforce Innovation Board (KWIB) Career and Technical Education (CTE) Certification Review Workgroup had a productive meeting this week at the Rockcastle Area Technology Center in Mt. Vernon. In attendance representing the Cumberlands Workforce Development Board were Jeff VanHook (CWDB Chairman), Myra Wilson (CWDB Director), and BJ Wilkerson (Cumberlands WIOA Program Assistant Director).

The certification submission process supports the continuous development and upkeep of Kentucky’s comprehensive industry certification list. It encourages collaboration among vendors, local businesses, workforce development areas, and their partners. This centralized resource provides employers and schools with aligned assessment options for approved career and technical education pathways.

The CTE Workgroup recommends submissions to the KWIB Education and Attainment Committee, which reviews them before seeking final approval from the KWIB Board of Directors.
