Cooperation and Effectiveness Advanced at Interagency Meeting

An Interagency Meeting was held at the Lake Cumberland Community Action Agency on July 17, 2019. The gathering was an opportunity for multiple agencies to share reports on current and future projects. The objective of these meetings is to develop cooperation and effective use of resources among the various agencies. 

Agencies participating were the Department for Community Based Services, Lake Cumberland Community Action Agency (LCCAA), LCCAA Health Benefit Assistor, LCCAA Head Start, LCCAA Opioid Consortium, East Kentucky Employment Program, Lake Cumberland Area Development District Workforce Development, and Adanta.

DCBS – Department for Community Based Services

The DCBS provides state-wide family support; child care; child and adult protection; eligibility determinations for Medicaid and food benefits; and administration of an energy cost-assistance program. The department administers the state foster care and adoption systems and recruits and trains parents to care for the state’s children who are waiting for a permanent home.

LCCAA Lake Cumberland Community Action Agency

LCCAA is a private, non-profit agency serving the ten-county Lake Cumberland area that operates a comprehensive array of programs to open educational/training and employment opportunities, remove obstacles, coordinate private sector groups and mobilize community resources to effectively assist low-income people achieve greater economic self-sufficiency.

Child Protective Services

The Division of Child Care supports quality child care programs and plans that promote improvement and expansion of child care services and resources statewide.

East Ky Employment Program

The Eastern Kentucky Concentrated Employment Program, Inc. (EKCEP) administers Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) programs in 23 mountain counties and also manages the Kentucky Career Center JobSight network of workforce centers, which provide access to more than a dozen programs and services for jobseekers and employers under one roof.

LCADD Workforce Development,  Lake Cumberland Area Development District

The Lake Cumberland Area Development District is a regional planning and development agency based in Russell Springs, Kentucky, that serves Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, McCreary, Pulaski, Russell, Taylor and Wayne counties.

Adanta

Adanta is a private, non-profit organization providing community-based mental health; substance abuse; developmental and intellectual disability; alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention; and sexual assault resource services.
