The Head Start programs for Cumberland County/Burkesville, Lake Cumberland, Taylor County/Campbellsville and McCreary County are now taking applications for eligible 3 and 4 year olds for the 2019-2020 school year.
Please read the attached PDF flyers for more, print and fill out the appropriate application form below, and submit to your application to the nearest Head Start location.
The following information is needed for applications:
- Birth Certificate
- Immunization Records
- Medical Card/Insurance Number
- Income Verification
- Social Security Numbers
About Head Start
Established in 1965, Head Start promotes school readiness for children, ages three to five, in low-income families by offering educational, nutritional, health, social and other services. Head Start programs promote school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children through the provision of educational, health, nutritional, social and other services to enrolled children and families.
Programs actively engage parents in their children’s learning and help them in making progress toward their educational, literacy and employment goals. Significant emphasis is placed on the involvement of parents in the administration of local Head Start programs.
Children attend school Monday through Thursday from approximately 8 am to 2 pm. Head Start follows the local county school calendar and does not have classes during inclement weather. Transportation is available but limited to certain areas. For more transportation information, contact the center nearest you.
Head Start welcomes children with disabilities and special needs.
